Competition results

Congratulations to all the Genesis Martial Arts students that took part in the final Cimac Superleague of the year yesterday.

The Cimac Superleague is a series of competitions which runs throughout the year.  Last year there were 6 events (5 at Wycombe Leisure Centre and one in Dorking Leisure Centre).

Competitors are awarded 10 points for winning their category, 9 points for second place and 8 points for third place.  Categories are based on weight and experience to make them a competitive as possible.

 

At the end of each year a Grand Champion is crowned for each category having achieved the most points.

This year Genesis Martial Arts Assistant Coaches Jett Westwood and Ryan Gallagher both took home double grand slam times.  Jett won both the under 75kg and under 80kg light contact sections at black belt.  And Ryan won the Black Belt over 80kg section and the over 75kg intermediate section in light contact.

There were also excellent results for David Young who was competing in his very first competition. He came second in the Intermediate light contact section over 75kg to team mate and training partner Ryan.

Saihaj Gill also performed excellently.  He got a silver medal after getting edged out narrowly in the final of the novice boys point section over 47kg.

The Cimac Superleague series is back again in 2020.  Genesis Martial Arts currently runs competition training every Saturday at the Beacon Centre from 14:30 – 15:30.  If your goal is to compete you really should be in attendance.  Places are invite only, so students who are serious about competing should speak to their instructor for consideration.

Genesis @ Spartan Race May 2019

Genesis will be running a team at the following Spartan Race:

The Spartan Sprint: This is our shortest distance. It is perfect for athletes of all levels; from Spartan first timers to seasoned racers. The 5-6 Km Sprint may be our shortest distance but it packs more than 20 Signature Spartan Obstacles. If you think you can’t do it, you’re wrong. Get to the starting line and show yourself what you are capable of.

Further more we will be holding spartan training sessions leading up to the event, these will be 10am at Genesis Martial Arts Oxford:

These training sessions are free and open to all, they will be specifically designed as a “mini spartan race” replicating the running and some of the obstacles you will face in the Spartan Race.

End of Year Training & Awards F.A.Q.

One day to go before our great day arrives.

We have been showered with questions from many of you that have not attended before, so here are some answers to popular questions.

Will there be tickets available on the day?

Yes you will be able to pay on the day but not at the reduced early bird price.

Do we need to wear our uniform?

No uniform is not compulsary but you need to wear clothing that is loose & comfortable so that you can move freely and have fun. We recommend you wear your uniform trousers/tracksuit bottoms and a Genesis T shirt. If you wish to be photographed and featured in our reports please wear a Genesis uniform or Genesis T Shirt/Hoodie.

Do we need to attend all of the sessions advertised?

No you do not. All attendees are free to pick and choose which sessions they wish to take part in. However some sessions that require equipment such as weapons training maybe closed off when full. If you wish to just bounce around on the castle or just play some of the mini challenges on the day to win prizes, that’s fine.

What do we do with tokens that we receive after completing a session?

Every youth participant will be given some tokens after a session. They can save the tokens up to go to the Genesis Tuck shop and get free treats!!!

What equipment will we need to bring?Genesis MA - Junior Kickboxing

If you are coming to play speed chess in a session or on the bouncy castle you will need full sparring equipment. For Pyramid pad session you will need gloves and focus mitts. there will be a small selection of equipment and merchandise on sale for you if you wish to purchase items on the day.

Will there be anywhere to leave our kit?

There are lockers in the entrance area of the Leisure centre but you will need to bring a padlock to secure it. We will be providing a small area in the hall for people to leave their bags and kit but it will only be small and will not be securely monitored. If you have any valuables or items of high importance please do not leave then unattended.
