Good news, Instructor Fitzroy Connor is now able to teach from Stoke Poges Village Hall and Corey Cain and Joel Hoyte have permission to teach classes at Wycombe Leisure Centre starting from Saturday 12th September.

As the number of places available in each class is capped, initially students will only be able to train with their main instructor.   This is positive however and we hope that our other classes will reopen very soon.  When we do return, we will be implementing social distancing measures.  To read them, please visit click this link.

Our instructors are communicating with our venues and we will let you know as soon as we have been given the green light to resume training.

For students that are not able to attend classes in Stoke Poges and High Wycombe, you still have the opportunity to train with Matt Jackson via Zoom on Thursday evenings.  The other zoom classes with Corey, Trevor and Joel will now be stopping.  Zoom invitations have been sent to you previously via email and the link is the same, so please follow it to join classes.

You may be wondering what we are proposing to do about gradings?  We cannot run the main grading, tag gradings or the end of year training and awards which were scheduled for November and December.  However, we will of course still be giving out student of the year awards at the end of the year.  Trophies will be given to your instructor to hand out in class.

We understand that this is extremely disappointing for students who were hoping to grade in November.  However, we hope that you will understand our focus at the moment is to reopen as many of our classes as possible subject to venues opening and changes in restrictions.

Once classes are reopened, subject to government guidance on events and contact sports we will be able to advise you how we intend to run future gradings.  We need to considerer whether gradings will include pad work, sparring and self-defence as social distancing restrictions may still warn against them.

We are sorry to say that Instructor Gary Thorne has decided that he will no longer run classes in Oxford and that classes in Oxford will not be restarting.  Gary will be sorely missed as he was a great asset to Genesis Martial Arts Team.

For students that attended the instructor’s courses we are always looking for great new instructors.  If you feel that you would like to start your own class, now or in the future?  Speak to your instructor and we will do everything we can to make that happen.  We are always looking for motivated new instructors to join the team.

Finally, (for those returning to training) many of your licences will have expired over the lockdown period, and will need to be renewed.  We realise that you have not been able to train for 6 months so we will be extending the expiry date for all new licence once you have renewed by 6 months.  i.e. licences that which expired July 2020 will have a renewal date of February 2022.  All licence must be renewed by 1st October 2020 to gain the 6 months extension.  To renew your licence please click here.
