Interclub Kickboxing Competition

Sunday 21st July

9am – 1pm

Subject to categories all Dragon and Junior students will be points fighting rules. Teenagers and adults will be light contact rules.

Subject to categories we will try to ensure all students have a minimum of 3 fights.

On the day Dragons will be scheduled to fight first, with juniors scheduled after and teenagers and adults after.

Spectators’ tickets will be available online until the day of the event.

The competition is for all students at all levels.  Students will be split into categories based on their weight and grade, to make the competition as fair as possible for everyone taking part.

Points fighting rules.

Dragons and Juniors categories will be points fighting only and will be 1 x 1:30 minute round.  The stop start formula provides for some exciting matches, allows children to gain experience in a controlled environment.

1 point – Punch to the head or body; kick to the body.

2 points – Kick to the head; jumping kick to the body.

3 points – Jumping kick to the head.

Light contact Rules

Teens and adults will be fighting light contact for 1 x 2 minute round where the winner is awarded by judges decision after time has been called.  Continuous fighting requires more stamina and better defence than point fighting.

On the day, the competition will run from 9:30am with the winner’s presentation after.

Please be aware, students need full protective equipment to compete in the competition.  This includes a head guard (with protection on top of the head), mouth guard, boxing gloves, shin guards and foot pads (with heal padding and covering the toes) and a groin guard. (Groin guards must be worn under Gi bottoms).

Rules for the day.

  • Students will need to stay close to their area and be ready in their sparring equipment so that they can hear when they are called to fight;
  • No kicks or punches to the back, or below the waist;
  • Strikes to the back of the head do count;
  • Please feel free to cheer your fighter on, but be respectful of other competitors. This is a family competition and will be a great experience for those taking part, so please bare that in mind when giving your support;
  • Please show positive support for winners and losers;
  • Respect is very important in martial arts so please do not question our officials.
  • Student’s will not be able to compete without full protective equipment, or if their protective equipment is inappropriate. Eg for MMA, too small, damage or substandard.
